Baby shower and Godh Bharai mehendi calls for a different design vocabulary altogether. Instead of peacocks, bridal jaali work, or bold Arabic trails, I lean into softer, rounder motifs — crescent moons, tiny baby feet worked into the palm or wrist, delicate vine work, and floral clusters that feel gentle rather than dense. The intent is to mark the occasion warmly without giving the design the same visual weight as a bridal or festival piece, since the mehendi here is a small part of a much bigger ceremony rather than the main event.

Comfort is the other major consideration that shapes how I run this session. Pregnant clients, especially later in pregnancy, cannot always sit in the same position for hours the way a bride can, so I plan Godh Bharai designs to be lighter in coverage and quicker to complete, typically 45 minutes to an hour and a half depending on how much detail is wanted. I am also happy to adjust hand positioning, take breaks, or work around a client seated in a more reclined or supported position if that is more comfortable.

A lot of these bookings extend beyond just the mother-to-be. It is common for me to do a coordinated, smaller design for the expecting mother's mother or mother-in-law during the same visit, and sometimes for a few close family members attending the ceremony. I keep the mother-to-be's design as the visual centrepiece with the moon, baby feet, or wrap-around vine motifs, while everyone else gets a simpler complementary pattern.
